Principal Message

John Mitchell

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Tyee Park Elementary school. It is truly an honor to become a member of the Tyee Park family and community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents thus far, I can already tell that it is a unique place and that I am incredibly excited to become a part of it.

I come to you with over 26 years of experience as a principal. Most recently, I have served as the Four Heroes elementary school principal for the past five years.

This summer, I plan to spend the majority of my time working with Mrs. Eakin and Mrs. Butler to ensure a smooth transition. I will get to know our building, our community, and familiarize myself with the unique needs of our school. I believe wholeheartedly that each and every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and families work together in the best interest of our children.

I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in our school and in our community. I believe my main responsibility is to put our students in the best possible position to succeed and achieve at high levels both Academically and Emotionally. We will accomplish both by placing our teachers in a similar position to be successful with their students. I look forward to meeting all of you. Below are a couple of questions that many parents have been inquiring about.

How do I enroll my kindergarten student? – it is all online enrollment at this time. If you have new neighbors who have moved in – enrollment is also online. Be well – take care of each other.

How will I get end of the year progress reports? Those will all be mailed to your home – so be sure that Skyward has your correct address.

What will school look like in the fall?

We don’t know yet – with COVID19 we are all learning new things each day. We have a team of individuals on the “Task Force for Reopening schools” working very hard to be ready. Once a plan has been approved by Mr. Ron Banner, CPSD Superintendent and the School Board, we will make sure that you are informed. Please make sure Skyward has a correct phone/email address and you have your voice box set up with the number, so, if you miss the call you still are able to get the information.

Make It a Great Summer and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share with me over the summer.
